Thinking about studying abroad in the Basque Country? Consider applying to Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (EHU), also known as the University of the Basque Country. EHU is a public university well known for its high level of research and wide variety of degree programs offered. It has campuses in Leioa, Bilbao, Portugalete, Barakaldo, San Sebastian, Eibar, and Vitoria-Gasteiz. The first campus was founded in Bilbao in 1968; at that point in time it was known as the University of Bilbao. Over the years, more campuses were developed throughout the Basque Country, and it eventually changed its name to EHU, as it is known today. The university offers 67 Bachelor’s programs, 103 master programs, 44 professional programs, and 71 PhD programs. These degrees cover all varieties of studies, including medicine, art, engineering, sociology, nursing, history, and law. Students can even take 90% of their coursework in basque!
